Emergency monitoring of Heavy Metals in Environmental water quality
2022-06-21 15:19:19

Overview

Water is the source of life, and the safety of water quality is related to the life and health of the earth's organisms. Under natural conditions, rainwater is naturally filtered and precipitated to form surface water and groundwater, which constitute the water source for all life. However, with the development of industry, various human factors such as mine scouring, industrial and mining wastewater, domestic sewage, etc. have made the heavy metal content in the water rise sharply, and the water quality has deteriorated. Especially for the rapid spread of water flow in sudden pollution incidents, it is very easy to cause serious social harm.
Due to the disadvantages of large instrument volume, tedious operation, and long detection cycle, the analysis of the laboratory method is hardly used for fast monitoring of the heavy metals on the spot. Therefore, the rapid detection of heavy metals in water has an urgent need, especially the on-site rapid detection of heavy metals in water has important significance and practical value.
At present, a fast and accurate analysis of heavy metals in water based on the portable high-sensitivity XRF combined with the technology of Heavy Metal Enrichment Tablet (HMET®) has been proposed by Beijing Ancoren  Technology Co.,LTD, which has the advantages of portability, simple sample processing, fast analysis speed, ultra-low detection limit, and high precision, and provides a reliable solution for the detection of heavy metals in various water.
Technology Principle
Based on the standard: GB 3838-2002 Environmental Quality Standard for Surface Water, Class II water limit value requirements.
①Using the enrichment device to automatically enrich the heavy metals in the water, the elements to be measured will be enriched on the HMET water diaphragm;
②The enriched HMET film was detected using a portable high-sensitivity X-ray fluorescence spectrometer to obtain the type and content of heavy metals to be measured, which can be detected to the milligram per liter (ppb) level.

 Application Areas

Including and not limited to surface water, domestic drinking water, treated sewage, wastewater, etc.

Comparison with other fast inspection technologies
HMET tablet coupled with
HS XRF
Anodic Stripping Voltammetry Heavy metal rapid identification kit
No reagents to be added The working electrode of the corresponding metal is required Need to add color developer
Elemental detection limits up to ppb level Part of the element detection limit can reach ppb level High detection limit, more than 1mg/L

Application characteristics

Rapidity

Quantitative analysis of heavy metals in water from sample processing to detection can be completed in 10 minutes.

No need to add various regulators, internal standard agents or various other reaction reagents, etc.
Only 20mL of water samples need to be collected on site, no need to add acid or alkaline solution or various chemical reagents, etc.

  High accuracy

PHECDA-PRO weighs 9.7 kg, which has excellent portability, and it can work within -10 ℃ ~ 40 ℃ ,which shows the strong environmental adaptability.

  Ultra-low Method Detection Limit

The Single-wavelength excited XRF with hyperbolic curved crystal as its core, significantly reduces the background of scattered rays and improves the signal-to-noise ratio, and further enhances the capabilities for heavy-metal detection by using of the technology of HMET, The Method Detection Limits of As, Pb and Cd in water reach 1 ~ 3ug/L.

  Wide adaptability

Heavy metal detection can be applied to a variety of water quality such as surface water, groundwater, corporate sewage, drinking water, etc.

  High accuracy

Consistency analysis with the laboratory standard methods can be obtained.

It is obvious from the above spectra that the characteristic X-ray fluorescence peaks of each element after enrichment are more obvious and meet the requirements of quantitative analysis.
