Application overview

The Guidebook, GB 5085 Identification Standard for Hazardous Waste-Identification for Toxic Substance Content, stipulates the limit values for over 20 toxic and hazardous elements. However, the coverage of diversified types of wastes and hazardous elements, the complexity of the sample matrix and the wide range of contents have posed challenges to the instrument analysis. Moreover, it is difficult for the traditional XRF relying on the standard samples to carry out the quantitative analysis.

High-sensitivity XRF (HS XRF) with the Fast Fundamental Parameter method (Fast FP) is well responsive to the heavy metal detection in solid and hazardous waste, with many distinct advantages such as less standard samples, easier sample processing, and faster testing, which make it highly adaptable to all kinds of waste samples.

1) Monochromatic excitation
The background interference caused by the X-ray tube emission spectrum after being scattered by the sample can be obviously decreased.

2) Focused excitation
The Energy can be focused, which distinctly increase the intensity of fluorescence radiation of the sample element received by the SDD detector.

 Copyrights of the software:

1) A mathematical model and database were established for the calculation of the X-ray process.

2) The matrix, spectral interference, and background subtraction can be calculated correctly.

3) Accurate quantitative results can be obtained with a few of the standards.

   More than 20 toxic elements specified in the identification standards of hazardous waste can be analyzed at one time, and the detection limit meets the criteria of determination;

   Matrixes of different kinds of solid waste can be accurately calibrated by the Fast FP, which is suitable for various solid, powder and liquid samples;

   Matrix differences and spectrums interference can be eliminated by the Fast FP, and we can use a few of standard samples to correct the calculation error;

   Sample processing is simple and fast, and the analysis time is less than ten minutes per sample;
